For prospective graduate students

Thank you for your interest in joining the lab! I am taking graduate student applications this cycle (applying in Fall of 2026, to start in Fall of 2027) and Stanford University’s Department of Psychology has admissions information which can be found here. Please review the information below before reaching out:

Strong applicants typically demonstrate:

  • Deep curiosity about affective science and psychology

  • A creative approach to studying research questions related to the lab’s interests

  • Substantial experience (typically at least one year of full-time research experience or similar) in research labs

  • Experience with at least one of the following: behavioral experiments, computational modeling, natural language processing, or neuroimaging (EEG/fMRI)

We value diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary backgrounds (I was a Psychology and Philosophy double major in undergrad!). If your experience falls outside our core areas, tell us how your background and perspective would contribute to the lab.

For prospective postdoctoral researchers

Thank you for your interest in joining the lab! I’m always happy to hear from postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for external funding to join the lab. Please reach out early, ideally several months before a relevant deadline, so we can discuss fit and develop a well-matched proposal together.

I may have funding available to support postdocs directly. These positions are limited and highly competitive. If you’re interested, please reach out with your CV, a brief statement of research interests, and how you see your work fitting with the lab’s research projects.
